Joshua Pearl is an American investor who has been in the business for nearly two decades. He was born in Tel Aviv, British Mandate for Palestine, to Polish Jewish immigrants. His grandfather was Menachem Mendel of Kotz. He studied electrical engineering in college and received his B.S. in the field in 1960. He emigrated to the United States in the 1970s and subsequently earned an M.S. in the same subject from Newark College of Engineering. He later went on to receive his PhD from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
After completing a Master’s degree in Finance, Joshua Pearl joined UBS Investment Bank as an associate. He also worked at Deutsche Bank in the Leveraged Finance Group. His educational background includes an AB from Harvard University and an MBA with Baker Scholar honors from Harvard Business School. He is the father of Daniel Pearl, a journalist who was kidnapped and murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2009. He is currently the head of Hickory Lane Capital Management and the co-author of the book The Little Book of Investing Like the Pros.
